Our new “Home of Hope” at The Gwinnett Children’s Shelter, was born out of necessity along with the support of many helping hands in our community and beyond.
We are a nonprofit, 501C3 Corporation and a residential care facility which provides services for homeless children from 0-17 years of age along with their young mothers. We also provide care and services for homeless girls aging out of the foster care system at 18 years of age. We provide customized “Life Plans” that are designed around the physical, emotional and educational needs of our kids, while helping Mom create a plan of action to get back on her feet.
Our goal is not simply to be a place of refuge, we are the “NEXT STEP” towards independence. We take our guests from homeless, to hopeful, to a home of their own.
There is more than one way to lend a helping hand. Our Home of Hope relies on many varieties of helpful giving to accommodate our needs, and a few of our primary needs are listed below. Donations can come in may forms, and remember, even the small things make a big difference in helping us achieve our goal of ending homelessness.
The Community Foundation of NE Georgia generously gifted Home of Hope at Gwinnett Children’s Shelter a 2 – 1 Challenge Grant in the amount of $27,500.00! When we asked for your help to raise $27,500.00 within 30 days, you delivered twice what we needed! In fact, with the grant and what you helped to raise, we now have almost $70,000 to continue our mission.
Your support will help us continue the mission of saving homeless young families out of the cycle of homelessness. We keep our children from sleeping in cars or extended stay hotels. We assist Mom with customized life plans designed to keep the family together and transition them to stable housing. While here at Home of Hope at GCS, our kids are free to be kids because they are safe, loved and encouraged to be their best.
AMAZING FACT: Did you know that we have transitioned 37 families out of homelessness in the last 2 years and that we are growing our programs and services so we can do more next year? Your gift towards our matching grant saves lives and we appreciate your tax-deductible donation today!
