Don’t miss our second annual Characters for Christmas event!

The holiday season is finally here, and we’re getting ready to spread some cheer with Characters for Christmas!

Characters for Christmas started last year as a COVID-friendly way to bring some extra special holiday magic to our community, all while helping a great cause – and we’re so excited to offer this opportunity again.

How does it work? First, you choose from a menu of characters – from Santa, Mrs. Claus and elves to Star Wars to Disney Princesses. Then, the Saturday before Christmas, the magic happens: your chosen character will come to your door, ask for your child or grandchild and give them a gift.

“Kids are so surprised to get a gift before Christmas, especially from Santa or their favorite character!” said Maureen Kornowa, Home of Hope’s executive director. “This event is a way to surprise your child or grandchild with something totally unique and different while raising awareness and funds for Home of Hope. It’s a win-win!

“My favorite memory from last year was having breakfast here at the Home with the character volunteers from Cosplay Volunteers of Atlanta and the 501st Legion. Then we walked around to visit all of the Home of Hope kids. To take their pictures and see their faces when Santa gave them a gift was just amazing.”

Still on the fence about registering? Read on to hear about the experience Randy Redner, CEO of the Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia, had when Santa and Mrs. Claus came to visit his three year-old granddaughter Emsley last year.

“It was like a Disney character meet and greet but just for you and your family. We kept it a surprise and had the family come to our house – it was so fun!” Randy said.

“[Characters for Christmas] is such a personal experience and gives your family something they would never get elsewhere. Creating such an amazing family memory is truly the best gift.

“Christmas and the holiday season is all about loving and caring for others, but Home of Hope does that every day of the year. They truly model the call to love one another by helping to give families a hand up so they can get back to being everything that God intended for their lives.

“If you’re looking for something extra special to do for your family this year – and to help a great nonprofit like Home of Hope – then Characters for Christmas is perfect!”

With Characters for Christmas, you can feel good not only about making a special memory for your loved ones, but also for giving hope to homeless kids and moms right here in our community.
