State Farm Neighborhood Assist awards Home of Hope at GCS a $25,000 grant
We have some very exciting news. Over the summer, Home of Hope at Gwinnett Children’s Shelter was nominated for a $25,000 grant through the State Farm Neighborhood Assist® program. And we just found out that we were awarded the grant! We’re so grateful to State Farm and to everyone who voted for us to receive the grant. This really means a lot to us, and we’re so excited to use these funds to further our mission of helping homeless children and their mothers.
State Farm Neighborhood Assist® is a program where people around the country submit causes that they would like to see win a $25,000 grant. The causes can be related to education, community development, or safety. The State Farm Review Committee chooses the top 200 causes and pairs them with nonprofits that work towards that cause, and then the voting starts. The public gets to have their say and vote for which causes they want to receive a grant. Voting lasts about ten days, and the top 40 vote recipients are awarded $25,000 grants.
This year, there were 4,493,041 votes cast.
We are so honored to be in the top 40 and to have received this grant. Home of Hope at Gwinnett Children’s Shelter was actually the only cause in Georgia to be in the top 40. The grant will definitely go a long way towards helping us provide to Gwinnett County’s homeless children and their mothers. Our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing home for these children while also helping their moms create “life plans” to get back on their feet.
We strive to create a place for kids to be kids. At Home of Hope at Gwinnett Children’s Shelter, we help provide for their emotional, physical, and educational needs while giving mom the support and resources she needs to create a “life plan” that will help her on the path to independence. It will help us provide these kids and moms with hope and give them room to dream.
The State Farm Neighborhood Assist® grant will truly make a huge difference to us and help us further our cause. We are so thankful to State Farm and to everyone who voted and made this possible! Thank you so much. We can’t even begin to describe what this grant means to the kids and moms that we strive to help.
